Version 2.4 – Early Release Update

In General,Version Updates on May 15, 2012 by mhoggatt Tagged: , , , , , , , , , ,

Today we previewed and released Ascend Version 2.4 to our Early Release Team of dealers.  We will make it available to all dealers next month on June 11th.

Here are some highlights of what we previewed for them today:

  • When you choose to unreconcile a category, Ascend now asks if you want to unreconcile its child categories.
  • On Ascend Online Reports we added an Email Usage Report that shows a history of all the messages you send.
  • We added a check box option to the Change Due Screen to print a large, full-page receipt.
  • There’s a new option to specify a header for your large receipts.  See my April 24th blog for more details.
  • You now have the ability to specify SMS capable numbers in the Customer window.  This has been added so that, in Version 2.5, you can send text messages to your customers from Ascend.
  • In the revamped In-Store Product Export screen you can now check a box to include products in child categories to your search results.

Please make sure to join us on June 12th or 13th for our webinars to cover these items and more.

I also gave our Early Release Team a preview of our next major platform, Version 3, due out for release in 2013.  That will be the subject of my blog next week.

2.4 Preview – More Receipt Improvements

In Version Updates on April 24, 2012 by mhoggatt Tagged: , , ,

We’re putting the wraps on Ascend Version 2.4. It will be available for our Early Release dealers on May 14th and for all dealers on June 11th.

More Receipt Improvements

In Version 2.3 we spent time improving customer receipts.  We added the ability to specify your own custom footers and to email a receipt from the Change Due box.  With Version 2.4 we’re including more receipt improvements.

You’ll have options for what appears in the top header section of your large receipts.

You can use the current header that prints the information from your Location record.  Or if you want to use pre-printed stock with your store information at the top, you can choose to leave the header area blank.  Or you can choose to upload an image of your own.  The image must be less than 200kb in size, 1.5 inches in height and 7.5 inches in width.  Here’s an example of a receipt using an image I created.

We’re also making it easier to print these large receipts.  With 2.4 you’ll have an option to print them from the Change Due box.

2.3 critical update

Two weeks ago I told you about recently discovered issues that you need to be aware of.  Click here to read the details.  They are critical enough that we didn’t wait for version 2.4 to fix them.  Last week we released a critical update of Version 2.3 to our Early Release dealers.  It’s available now for everyone.  To update, simply click on the Internet Update icon and follow the instructions from there.

Ascend Version 2.3 Preview – Part 3

Ascend Version 2.3 Preview Continued:

We’re in the final two weeks of programming for the next major release of Ascend. It will be available to our “early release” dealers in mid-February and available to everyone in mid-March. Two weeks ago we presented Part 1 of our preview and last week Part 2.  Let’s continue today with Part 3.

Emailing receipts

We’re taking advantage of our new integrated email service to add this feature. At the Change Due window you’ll have the option to email receipts to your customers. It’s a great service to offer them and another reason for them to share their email addresses with you.

Gift Card payment hot key

This new feature came out of our first Day of Autonomy exercise. It was inspired by Trek’s cafeteria where Ascend is used and many employees use gift cards to pay for their lunches. Instead of clicking the Gift Card payment button, you can press Alt+F1 on the keyboard.

New Leisure Trends Export on Ascend Online Reports

Many of you provide a monthly data feed to Leisure Trends. We’ve provided a new export to help you easily retrieve this information. It’s available on Ascend Online Reports now. If you haven’t yet connected to Ascend Online reports, check out my previous blog on this topic for more details.

Tune in again next week for more previews!

Ascend Version 2.3 Preview – Part 1

Ascend Version 2.2 Critical Update:

Tonight (1/23) we will be posting an Ascend service release to update our integrated email service.  If you’re on Version 2 you must upgrade by January 30th. If you don’t, you will not be able to send email messages from Ascend after that date. About a month ago, we had an extended outage of our email service. This update will prevent that from happening again.

Ascend Version 2.3 Preview:

We are in the final 3 weeks of programming for the next major release of Ascend. It will be available to our “early release” dealers in mid-February and available to everyone in mid-March. So it’s time to start showing you all the cool stuff you’re going to get. There’s so much to show you that I’ll be devoting my next several blogs to this topic.

More inventory adjustment types:

Inventory accuracy is the foundation of Ascend. Recording inventory adjustments is an important tool to help note where products are going. On our UserVoice forum we heard that you didn’t have enough adjustment types. So we’ve added five new types for you to use. They are Owner’s Draw, Rental Use, Sales/Display Use, Shrink and Sponsorship.

Custom footers by transaction type:

Another long-standing request is to be able to have different text print out at the bottom of your receipts based on the type of transaction. For Version 2.3 we’ve added that option for you. You now have the ability to specify different footers for Sales, Quotes, Layaways, Work Orders and Returns.

QBP 3rd Warehouse:

Last month, QBP opened a 3rd warehouse in Pennsylvania. In Version 2.3, the QBP order screen will show availability in their Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Utah warehouses.

That’s it for now. Check in next week for part 2 of our Version 2.3 Preview.
