Version 2.4 – Early Release Update

In General,Version Updates on May 15, 2012 by mhoggatt Tagged: , , , , , , , , , ,

Today we previewed and released Ascend Version 2.4 to our Early Release Team of dealers.  We will make it available to all dealers next month on June 11th.

Here are some highlights of what we previewed for them today:

  • When you choose to unreconcile a category, Ascend now asks if you want to unreconcile its child categories.
  • On Ascend Online Reports we added an Email Usage Report that shows a history of all the messages you send.
  • We added a check box option to the Change Due Screen to print a large, full-page receipt.
  • There’s a new option to specify a header for your large receipts.  See my April 24th blog for more details.
  • You now have the ability to specify SMS capable numbers in the Customer window.  This has been added so that, in Version 2.5, you can send text messages to your customers from Ascend.
  • In the revamped In-Store Product Export screen you can now check a box to include products in child categories to your search results.

Please make sure to join us on June 12th or 13th for our webinars to cover these items and more.

I also gave our Early Release Team a preview of our next major platform, Version 3, due out for release in 2013.  That will be the subject of my blog next week.

Ascend Version 2.3 Preview – Part 4

In Version Updates on February 13, 2012 by mhoggatt Tagged: , , , , , ,

This is the fourth and final part of our Ascend Version 2.3 preview.  If you missed any previous parts, click these links to view Part 1, Part 2 or Part 3.

Version 2.3 will be available for our early release group next week on Monday night, February 20th.  Contact us if you’d like to be a part of this group.  It will be available to everyone else on March 19th.

With every update we like to include small changes with a big impact.  Here are some that you can look forward to.

Cashier Mode / Service Mode

With a busy spring just around the corner it would be nice if, at your busiest workstations, you didn’t always have to exit to the desktop after completing a sale or work order.  With our new Cashier and Service modes you won’t have to.  When you enable either, you’ll automatically return to the Sales or Work Order Screen when you complete a transaction.  To enable it, go to Options > General and select the desired option from the Workstation Mode list.

More product details

We added more information to the details section when looking at a specific product.  You can now see last Last Received Date, Last Sold Date and Last Vendor Purchased From.

Change sale or work order item quantity

Now, when needed, you can change the quantity on a previously added sale or work order item.  The many mechanics I’ve talked to that have had to add or remove work order items to get to a new quantity will be very happy to hear about this one.

Make sure to join us for our new release webinars.  Watch your e-mail and Dexter for more details in the next several weeks.

Ascend Version 2.3 Preview – Part 2

In General,Version Updates on January 29, 2012 by mhoggatt Tagged: , , , ,

Ascend Version 2.2 Critical Update:

An Ascend service release is available now to update our integrated email service.  If you’re on Version 2 you must upgrade by Monday, January 30th. If you don’t, you will not be able to send email messages from Ascend starting Tuesday, January 31st. About a month ago, we had an extended outage of our email service. This update will prevent that from happening again.

Ascend Version 2.3 Preview Continued:

We are in the final weeks of programming for the next major release of Ascend. It will be available to our “early release” dealers in mid-February and available to everyone in mid-March. We started our preview last week and continue with more details today.

More controls when exporting in-store products:

Exporting in-store products (Desktop>File>Export>In-Store Products) is a popular feature for modifying large groups of products with Excel.  Previously your only choice was to export all products for a specific vendor.  If you were dealing with a vendor like Trek or QBP it could take a long time just to create the list and then you were left with a huge spreadsheet of products to work with.

With our new Export In-Store Products form you now have much greater control to create the specific list of products you want to work with.

We’ve given you the same search list available in the Database Explorer Products folder.  You can use the popular Super Search or choose from many other available options (Brand, Color, Description , etc).  In addition, you can also choose from category, vendor and price range to further refine your list.  Finally, you can filter the list to include only those products that are in inventory or are marked for eCommerce export.

There’s much more to show you.  Check in again next week for Part 3 of our preview.
